Here is a cool diagram of how igneous rock is formed. Igneous rocks are formed from Cooled Magma. Volcanoes produce magma. Magma is called Lava, once it hits the Earth. After magma cools , it crystalizes. Just like how if you take a liter of pop and put Mentos in it, it would explode and shoot out pop. That what a volcano will do with magma.

Here is also a diagram of how sedimentary rocks form. Sedimentary rocks are formed by Eroded igneous rocks, that turn into Chunks, and the chunks get smooshed. Sedimentary rocks form into layers. Sedimentary rocks can also have faults or cross cutting in them. That is a crack in the rock. Just like if a big semi ran over pieces of different color play-doh stacked on top of each other , it would smash into different layers like sedimentary rock.

Here is an example of how metamorphic rock is formed. Metamorphic rock changes form by heat and pressure! Just like if you apply heat and pressure to play-doh it would eventually melt and break down.
