Minerals
Minerals play a huge role in Rocks. They are the building blocks of Rocks. They make up the Rock Cycle.
Minerals have Four traits. The four traits of a Mineral are,
1. Non-Living
2. Natural
3. Solid
4. Crystal Structure
The most common two Minerals are, Silicates & Non-Silicates. 90% of Minerals are Silicate Minerals. 10% are Non-Silicates.
Minerals are made of Atoms. The three small parts of an Atom are, Protons, Neutrons & Electrons. If a Mineral is made up of only one type of Atom, is called an Element. If a Mineral is made up of two atoms or more it is called a Compound. Minerals are classified by their Chemicals! There are many Mineral properties, such as Color, Streak, Hardness, Luster, Cleavage, Density & more. There are also Special Properties of a Mineral. Like Glow, Chemical Reaction, & Taste.
